We love our new bed--it was worth the wait. I bought the curtain fabric this past weekend. They aren't sewn yet, but I had to put it up to see how it will look. It took over 22 yards for the three windows, but the color is perfect against the red walls. Getting the colors to look accurate with the camera is tough, so I'll have to play with it to get something worthy. I'll wait till the room is finished; I still need to sew the curtains and find a side table for Harper. Click here to see the before pictures of the master bedroom.

I finished plastering the walls in the guest bedroom on Saturday. I've been cleaning, caulking, and scraping the windows and wainscoting. It's really not in bad shape--especially compared to how it was in our room, so it's going pretty fast.

After many trips to the Sherwin Williams, I finally made a choice on the color Monday. It ended up being from the swatch that looked dirty compared to the others, but it looks totally different on the house. The other colors were too bright/bold, and I wanted something a little more neutral. I think it's going to be perfect once everything is finished. It has one coat in these pictures, and they are still caulking and hand-sanding some areas.

They straightened the columns and added a middle column. I've noticed that numerous houses around here have brick supports like ours with missing columns. Like ours, most of these have been kept up and even recently painted, but have never added columns. I don't know which way is original, but I think the middle column adds balance, and it definitely adds support, so it works better for us. So far, I think the company we hired has done a great job, and I think it will be beautiful when they're finished.

The painting is moving to finishing stages. I need to get some outside shots, but the sun has been bad when I've had time. These are views from the guest bedroom.

I'm happy to have our talented carpenter back for a while! He's so busy, but he's working with us on Saturdays. His son, Nathan, and Harper worked with him all day to get the outside frame put built. The concrete job was not done well, but Pee Wee quickly made a plan to get everything level and plum.

It looks huge now. I think it's adding about 1100 square feet of space, so if we ever have kids, I guess they can live on the porch--or maybe I would! The guys will be working again this coming Saturday if the weather holds up, so I'm anxious to see the progress.

I went back to work this past week, so I'm having house/home withdrawals. Our Great Dane, Sargent has become used to me being at home with him, so he's been more needy, too, but it will soon be a routine again.

Welcome! I'm starting to get emails from readers of my article in LIVE Magazine, so I'm glad to have you. If you have your own blog or website, or if you just want to say "hi," drop me a line. I'm still working on the back-log of before pictures and previous years, but if you want to look at recent progress, you can click on May or any 2007 month after that. I will post an updates as I get more of the previous photos up. Thanks for your patience!
